Jewellery with pearls

Pearls in their natural surroundings are protected against environmental factors by stone-hard oyster shells. Yet when pearls are made into a bracelet or a necklace, such protection disappears.

The natural outer surface of a pearl is very sensitive towards perfumes and cosmetics of all types. Natural skin excretions can also affect the substance of a pearl and its luster. Every time they have been worn, pearls should therefore be rubbed with a soft cotton cloth. It is also sensible for them to be kept in the case supplied – and always separately from your other jewellery pieces. Also very suitable for the purpose is a larger jewellery case with separate compartments for chains, bracelets, rings, etc.

Please be especially careful of your pearl jewellery when sunbathing by the pool or in a solarium as well as when swimming. Apart from the pearls, namely, the thread will also suffer. You should avoid the chlorinated water of swimming pools, especially.
